Moving a press at Kverneland factories

Moving a press at Kverneland factories

In connection with the remodelling of the plough-manufacturing plant at Kverneland, a press weighing 125 tonnes needed moving from one fabrication hall to another. The press had been built on the site when the factory was new, and no one thought it would be possible to move the press.

Nevertheless, Nordic Crane Stangeland took on the assignment and managed to get the press safely installed on its new foundation. The operation was conducted using climbing jacks, a skidding system and SPMT.

First the press was jacked up out of its pit using four 200-tonne climbing jacks, and then skidded out of the hall on a 30 m long skidding track. Then, the press was lifted by two SPMT trailers and driven to the new hall. The press was then installed using skid tracks.
